I think we all need to calm down a little. There is going to be problems with any new car and the ammount of gadgets they put in them nowadays. In wolves last week i saw a TT 225 parked up a 1/2 mile from the M54 and it had burnt to a crisp. The whole front end had gone up.Im not saying its not...
Out of the small group here with 182s,have you noticed much difference in your insurance premium if say,you had a 172 before.
Are the 182s a higher group insurance than 172s?
thanks
ian
The part i dont understand is that a cup is cheaper to insure than a 172 which i checked out when i bought the car,so how do they say the 182 is dearer although its got the cheaper cars suspension. If i had a cup which had a bigger spoiler on the back than my standard 172 would they not charge...
I dont quite think they have the same nostalgia as a williams or nsx or 911
Great cars all the same and the fact that they wont be too expensive in the long run means more cars at sensible prices for joe public like me.

Yes and no.
The cup was designed as a special car for those who liked it raw, from a 172 point of view they made changes to the suspension and made the track a bit wider and made it lighter so as to knock 1/2 second to 60 and 1 sec to 100 as standard(before you lot start.)They made the glass...
Toyo proxes t-1s from http://mytyres.co.ukhttp://mytyres.co.uk £40 each, great grip and not bad in the wet.Best compramise ive found appart from spendiny £70 each on F1s

But only to a limited few who know what it is.What im saying is the two other models will appeal to a wider spectrum of buyers who may not know the history behind any of the cars but in todays age of gadgets look for the best deal.
but i do agree with what you say too in some respects.
ian:)
Now now kids,Cars nowadays are safe but youll be interested to know that its all an illusion.
Cars are n-cap tested to 40mph at which "they" say you can withstain a near fatal crash at this speed.
You would need one of those cars from demolition man the film to survive a 70 mph head on down...
I beg to differ but the cup is on its own because the 182 is only 10 bhp ahead of the 172 and they both have the goodies on board, which to joe public is what counts.
We are not all mad petrol sniffers. We do like gadgets.

From what i can see the cup isnt holding the residual it said it would.
I think it has too many variants and because the 182 is out now most people want the new thing which is as fast and has the goodies.IMO

Just been on autotrader and looking for deals on 182s etc etc,and cant help but notice a mass of cups for sale.Theres even two silver ones(90 in uk)there must be 4 pages of them altogether.
Anyone feel there may be some deflection to the dark side and these people might be buying a 182 or...
ok ill have a 182 with 1.2 suspension please cos according to you everything bar the engine is fluff.
its ok having a good engine but unless you have"fluff" to go with it youve got nothing.
The suspension has been modified on the 182 and the castor angle is different than a cup and its lower...
Yes brazo it has all this and then you tick a box at the dealership which says cup option£200 and you tick yes.For this you get dark anthracite alloys, bespoke michelin exalto 2 tyres which have a stiffer side wall,a 3mm lower ride hight with an extra 3% further adjustment to the castor angle...
