Could well be some contaminants on the panels fella. These could be reacting with the panels and causing this issue. I find that if a panel is in poor condition, polishing looks different in certain areas until the polish is worked in. Looks flat rather than even swirls of polish.
Wax may have been left too long. Most waxes should be done panel by panel. If it is in sunlight it will cure too much and go like candle wax on clothes or table cloths and be a pain to get off. Make sure you do one panel at a time.
What do you want the MFs for fella? Must have missed the use...

And will put swirls in at the same time lad.
It depends how far you want to go with this. You can use deionised water, also know as RO or reverse osmosis water. This contains no contaminants and so will not leave residues on your paint work (the cause of water marks).
However, if you spray...
Sadly not Ads mate.
Agressive clay will be your first port of call. After that something like G3. Finally if these methods haven't shifted it then you will need to wet sand. I would suggest not trying the latter two yourself unless you have had experience of the processes.
I woudl suggest...
Fella word of advice that we were given when purchasing. If you buy a "series 2" they cannot be repaired (can't get th motor out if it goes) where as "series 3" are fixable.
i.e. you might as well spend a bit more now, than having to buy a new one rather than repair it later on.
