Yeah it is very useful fella. It is great when dry to get rid of polishing dust in cracks as well. I must confess to owning two, one dry, one for liquids etc.

Yeah hologramming. That means that you have pushed the polish, rather than using circular movements. Typically caused by claying or harsh drying movement. That will all come out with a good machine polish.

I am intrigued as to how you have swirled the paint work with SRP as well. Oh well. From reviews I would go for the Megs G220, not the kestrel. Yes you need spot pads and therefore you need to by the 3.5" backing plate to go with it. You need cutting polish, finishing polish and maybe a...

I can say that the Onyx is a good shout. Collinites wax 476 is a good wax for wheels and for those that won't be topping up soon. But as a detailer's wax it really does dull the paint work quite a bit chaps :)
