ukaskew - I know you really want a valver, have you considered a 106 gti instead ?? I'm not sure if there's any in your budget though & if so they may be ropey. If I couldn't get a valver i'd get a 106gti (i did think about before I got the valver, but couldn't afford it at the time)

are renault ok to service a v6 clio ??? having read that they get most other ar*e about face, will they be ok with a v6 ?? or is it best off getting a specialist to do it ?

Tbh the green one sounds like a dog. My old valver was what i'd call 'virtually mint' it was in top top mechanical condition, all it had were a couple of light scratches on the paint work & the wheels could have done with a re-rurb - thats it !!! I sold her last July for £2,700 it was standard...

172's come on 16's anyway (unless yours is foreign, most of those come on 15's) those wheels don't do it for me tbh.

Cap 16v, to be honest you'll need to explain in more detail about what you saw for us to give advice about it. (I used to own a mint 16v- so i know what i'm on about)

look in the back of the boy racer mags for brokers etc. i got my best quote on my valver that way, I was 21 with nothing at all - had been driving 3 years though. tbh you'll prob be looking at £6k or something silly.

Are they both the same width across the mirrors (mk1 & 2) ?? Are the mirrors the widest point of the car ?? (in the mk2 brochure its measured that it is) The car is only 6cm wider than my coupe, that too has a pretty bad turnnig circle. Just wondering how much worse the v6 is tbh. Parking...

£1200 for the recaro's stuff that !!! I guess if you got them you could always sell them separate to the car when you come to sell the car. Bit of a long shot here, have you thought about actually selling the car & buying one with them already in it ?

Strange- my dads 172 is the same age as yours but his has white ones. His cars flame red.

My dads 52 reg 172 (november 2002) has white side repeators, but it has both door locks. Its a full uk car too.

When I did mine (years ago) I used a bit of see through tube too, (to put the oil in) thing is checking the level is a mission, I used a wire coathanger !

Sunflower yellow was only the mk1 172. I think mk1 172's came in Mars red ? Flame red was the mk2 172. Scarab green (the 172 exclusive colour) is pretty rare too as there was only 172 of them.

The valver brochure dated 05/95 Lists: Glacier white, Capsicum red,monaco blue,xerus grey,iceberg silver,pearl black & naples red.

I used to get about 30mpg from mine, tops. standard car too.

My local Fiat dealer has a liquid lellow 182 in there for 11k - its on an 04 or a 54 reg (i can't quite remember tbh) it has the anthracite wheels, but i'm not sure about the mileage etc.
