No, the system has a pressure switch so if there is no gas in it, the compressor will not run even if the AC switch is on insode the car. If its been cut for a while (as in the system has been open to the elements) the its recomended to replace the dryer when repairing it. This absorbs moisture...

The guy we deal with at EBC says you need to get them minging hot and then cool down to bed in. I assume you have new discs going on at the same time?
