That's exactly what i've done. I bought the guide, restarted using it. I now have a Lv20 Scourge of humanity and a Lv9 Protector than i'm currently playing. By the time i'm done with this guy, he'll wipe the floor with my previous character. I can already one-shot a Deathclaw, at Lv9...
