Track Tyres - Feedback and Recommendations

On a track day you'll often just never know how much of it is great driving and how much is the car. You can have the most mundane looking things out there which are serious bits of kit under the skin, equally you can have mundane looking things which are just being driven really well. At the...

MOT question - Fog lights out, Brake Ducts in?

Agreed - front fogs not part of the MoT test for any car produced before 1st March 2018. If you ever want to check something, the full testing manual is here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspection-manual-for-private-passenger-and-light-commercial-vehicles Here's the relevant section for...

Track Tyres - Feedback and Recommendations

I'd agree ^^^ but would also add that some road tyres just simply don't work on track. I ran a set of Eagle F1's on the back of my 182 and they literally melted, it was like trying to drive on marshmallow. I'd get a lap out of them and no more. But they were brilliant road tyres. It's easy to...

Track Tyres - Feedback and Recommendations

No, it’s dangerous because you have people sharing a track driving under different “rules” in their heads. Track day rules are overtaking on the straights by consent, race drivers doing test days are chasing lap time through setup and will often ignore the rules and dive bomb you in corners...

Track Tyres - Feedback and Recommendations

Yeah if I'm doing a TD I always check these days if there's a race meet the following day and avoid those TDs. Inevitably they are used as test days and the driving standards/behaviour is absolutely abysmal. I'm not a particularly great driver, but I also have no ego at all on track and always...

    Faster Broadband

That upload is really cack, although download isn’t much better for fibre. I imagine they’ll want the HH5 plugged back in. The other thing they’ll ask you to do is try plugging in to the test socket on your phone line to rule out any internal interference in your house, so may as well try that...

    Faster Broadband

Agree- your upload speed looks to be the issue. If it’s still that low when plugged directly in to the router I’d raise a fault with BT. It’s probably the first thing they’ll ask you to do anyway.

    Faster Broadband

How slow is slow? You should be able to get a decent fibre connection at that postcode. Can you post results from Speedtest.net? Have you tried plugging directly into the router with an Ethernet cable to rule out WiFi issues?

    The NEW LOLVO Barge

Fine photography there, a big shed in front of some big sheds, what’s not to like. ;) That steering wheel might be a touch too far even for me. Enjoy it(y)

    TRACK DAY

No problem with engine overheating as long as the cooling system is working as it should. Standard rear brakes will be fine as long as the pads aren’t very low. Decent brake fluid and front pads should be enough for your first time out, don’t spend a fortune, find how the car works for you on...

    Meglio Overheating Slightly ....

This is the change I was talking about, but from the sound of it that may not be your issue. It also looks like your coolant header tank is in a different place to mine, so that could change the plumbing too. Best check the basics first, but for what it's worth here's the link (y)...

    Meglio Overheating Slightly ....

Are you losing any coolant? Also worth checking if when doing the conversion they've blocked off any of the coolant ports, that had been done on mine and it meant the engine couldn't bleed out any air which got sucked in to the system and the temps shot up. I'll dig out a before and after shot I...

Olympus pulling out of the camera market

The best camera is the one you have with you. Outside of hobbyist/pro cameras there’s just no market there any more.

I'd seriously look at getting those boat anchor wheels off it and stick a set of lighter ones on there, it made an incredible difference to mine (y)

Need to check the spec for the TV, a lot of ones which claim 120Hz refresh rates actually cap out at an input rate of 60Hz and upscale internally to 120.

    My New Volvo 850 T5

Update: Handbrake cables weren’t correctly routed, now they are. Battery drain is just that the battery is weak and my multimeter is cheap shite which lied to me  Rich running and EML traced to a leak in the pipework to the idle control valve. Being fixed once the part turns up from...

    Lovely spec 275

I think I've decided to go for two cars now, some sort of barge for the commute because I'll only be doing it once or twice a week and comfort is the most important thing plus a proper track toy. The Meg is a great option as a do it all car, but I'm thinking a Seven-a-like, Elise or similar. You...

    Lovely spec 275

I do wonder if these last of the line cars with the Ohlins will end up with a bit of a Clio Trophy thing going on. They are the end of an era in a lot of ways and for feedback and fun were rated more highly than the latest and greatest hot hatches.

    Lovely spec 275

I’m not sure TBH, still working through a bunch of options. Whatever I get needs to handle a once or twice a week commute of an hour and a half each way on motorways and dual carriageways. Wouldn’t really fancy that in a standard cup chassis car, it’s just too jiggly.
  27. charltjr

    Lovely spec 275

It really is. It’s an insane spec too, I did wonder when I saw the “Renault plus one owner” and I’m almost certain it was their kitchen-sink spec press car as seen in various reviews.

    Lovely spec 275

Mmmmmmmmm....... It’s all the money for one of these but it’s got the lot and some good names in terms of tuning and maintenance too. Anyone driven one of these with the Ohlins? Wondering if it makes it a bit more civilised in terms of ride quality than the standard cup suspension...

    My New Volvo 850 T5

I'm honestly not sure, but it's shoes inside a drum and are known for having problems as they age. I know when the problem hit I thought it was probably something more expensive like the shoe had come off the backing plate and bolloxed the internals of the drum (not speaking from experience...
