That's why I did the chains on mine rather than breaking it. Yes it cost a fair chunk, but like you say, decent ones are on the up for that reason. I know a few breakers and they are pulling TTs to bits like no tomorrow
TT prices are all over the place at the moment, mainly because there are some minters, and some utter dogs about. I test drove a few before I bought mine.
Knowing you @Ant1 and the way you like to hoard classics, I'd say look for either a QS, or a manual V6

My phone installed an update lastnight and, since then, my Waze and Googlemaps is not getting a GPS signal. I had this happen a few months back and, from what I can remember, I toggled the wifi on and off, turned location on and off. Nothing. I've even deleted the app...

The parts are fairly cheap, think the chain kit and clutch came to around £300, but then the DMF was inspected and, whilst there was only minimal play, while its all apart, that's going to be done too. It's the labour which kills this job. Good job my mechanic is a very good pal of mine and we...
Sooooo, engine out. Pretty much every guide and tensioner was broken or cracked. Took a fair while to get it all timed up because auto-data doesn't clarify which point on the VVT housing is the actual timing marks FFS. It should be going back in today.
Well, driving to the dogs home on sunday, this happened.
Timing chain seems to have finally stretched. I scanned it on VCDS and got no reading for the intake cam (which suggests over -11) and -10 for exhaust cam. b****cks. It was still running, but lumpy as f**k on idle. Well, it's been...
