from what i know you are right, colder air is denser and therefore more combustible, hence why open induction kits are said to lose power, but cold air fed kits gain power?
dont know much about clutches but as edde said, could be the adjuster, wouldnt think its going if the car is that new, especially not being hammered, my first car had done 40k, and been hammered all of its life, before me and when i had it, and that was fine when i gave it back to renault!!

a tell tale sign of clutch slipping is when you floor the revs but you dont accelerate properly.
how old is your car/mileage/been hammered?
what power do they run off etc, if you know that is!
im an apprentice at a big aerospace company, and i got on well with one of the electricians, so might be able to get them myself!!

i had that happen to me, my car was only worth £5500-£6000, needed new bumper, smash panel, bootlid, interior plastics and carpets, part of the boot floor cutting out and a new one being welded in, spraying on bootlid and bumper.
i thoiught mine would have been a write off, and so did 2 body...
