If you've been playing with the pipes maybe you've pulled out the one that goes to the acoustic valve?

I changed mine, depend how mechanically minded you are, it's not hard thing to change just lack of room is an issue, and getting the wires the right way round on the sensor, mine had faded to the same colour, great.

What car? As my standard wheels rub on my 172, but don't make any noise unless on near full lock. Rears appear to rub all the time. Could be a wheel bearing, mine was speed dependent.
