I'm no mechanic, just using basic physics/science Fuel makes the heat so if no fuel is being used shouldn't get hotter.

Engine won't be making any heat (apart from friction) so won't be an issue.

Went to town, gave it death for about 10 miles home then dad said it was making a funny noise. Then it happened as i was reversing out to go to a garage, so all happened within say 15 miles.

51 plate, 64k, had a cambelt done year ago to. I did do some spirited driving around the Nurgburgring though.

Mine had, aux belt, cambelt, dephaser pully, head removed, ultrasounded, reskimmed, valves reseated, 8 new vlaves, new oil, new coolant,(+ stuff i can't remember) then there was labour on top. Was done here, good price for the work done IMO and they both own 172's so know the car well...

no it's just a a guage 0_______ would mean feck all oil 0000____ would mean half full and 00000000 means full, so your one notch down from being full, just check your dipstick might need a slight bit of oil.

Re: What do those 000000's mean when you start up a ph1 172 mean? it's means your oil has gone down slightly. It's an oil gauage, ph2's say "oil ok"

Gearbox oil is not part of the service, so unless you've done it, it's probably never been done.
