I remember having to do this back in 2020 when it all kicked off for all our code base and repositories. Couldn’t have slave, master, black lists, white lists. Still have some of the words kicking about which is apparently ok now.
And in a previous job we were the Image Analysis team so...
Ran out of wheel cleaner. Found some Autoglym Clean Wheels in the shed. Actually not that bad! Sprayed on, waited, jet washed off and all the dirt had collected nicely to be washed off. Granted the wheels have been coated in C5 and it was only light dirt but I was impressed for something found...
I work in a part of defence as a software engineer/tech lead and I would say it’s the safest job ever, to the extent where I think if I were made redundant at 9am I have a high confidence I’ll have a new job by the end of the day (probably with the same end customer and users just being paid by...
That looks like a useful bit of kit. I refitted my arch liners recently as I was paranoid something was going to go into the belts, but on refitting it was still a bit unprotected. I’ll look at getting this!
Degreasers and elbow grease it is!
Bought the steam cleaner to do the car seating the girlfriends car and some other house jobs but thought what other things it could be useful for.
I’ve just thought if the tickets come out in the next few weeks and I’m stuck in the labour ward while the girlfriend is giving birth I’m going to be sad. Please can I reserve a morning track session ticket…..
Bought a steam cleaner for some house stuff and on the box it says it can be used on the car which got me thinking. Safe to use on the engine bay? Mainly the rocker cover and block rather than the entire engine. Avoid all electrical parts and connections too.
From experience swapping to an after market ECU on my Ph1 I had to move pins around in the ECU connector as the GEN90 was made for a Ph2. So going on that I would want to say the loom is slightly different. If you have the loom and ECU it might be easier to swap it all over in the wiring somehow.
I’m seriously considering taking the E34 out in the morning session.
It’s probably the only suitable working car I’ll have to take to a track day come July.
@dann2707 ^^ this! Girlfriend has the proper car and I just need something as a little run around kind of thing. Plus I have issues and this Ph1 is perfect.
I’m actually going to use my E34 as the family car until I save up a bit for something proper to get. But any excuse to have another...
I like this a lot, Ph1’s are such a pretty little car when they look like this. I need a family car…these have iso fix in the back…and they are simple mechanically and easy to fix…… must resist the temptation. Tbh more appropriate family car than the Z3 I’m currently driving.
When I see good...
I’ve got an iPhone 14 Pro so has the LiDAR on to help with focusing. Which is great. But when you try to take a photo through a window it won’t focus, assume it’s the LiDAR giving the wrong focal point.
There was a massive stag in the garden earlier and I couldn’t get a photo of it
Tried...
GTechniq C5 wheel armour - I am very impressed!
I hate cleaning wheels, especially the Style 32’s I have. But I have these wheels a good decontamination, clean and then a C5 coating before they went on the car the a few weeks back. I am washing them now and chucked some generic wheel cleaner...
I've got these dehumidifier bags / moisture trap and use them in my Z3 and they have been perfect. I've not had a misty window so far this winter and I am using the car most days and getting in it about 6am, so way before it would naturally clear up. I tend to use one for a few days then swap...
Has it been the year of the broken/unused Ph1?!
I even had an awful thought of selling my E34 to get enough funds without needing to save up to "finish" the Clio - gear box rebuilt with LSD, sort out the body work and any rust, refresh the undersides (remove and powdercoat front subframe and...
If you need an interior there is one under the stairs of a house I used to live in Reading. I didn’t know what to do with it so put it there and forgot about it as it was in a cupboard in the cupboard under the stairs so wasn’t even on show. I’d laugh if it is still there 9 years later.
Finally changed the phaser solenoid seal. What a prick of a job
Ended up using a punch to bend it enough to come out. Quick clean and then used a socket to push the new one in. Feels a lot more snug. Had the car running for 10mins and no oil on the rocker cover so take that as a win.
Forgot...
Not always helpful when they say it’s remote. I’ve had one where I sent my CV off as it was remote and looked decent but then when I got speaking to the recruiter it was office based in London and he said “oh I always say remote to get more interest”. No thanks.
What are people’s opinions on ceramic shampoo? I’ve used AMDetails Hybrid Shampoo in the past but I have seen GTechniq W3 Ceramic Wash but that is a bit pricy. The Z3 has a ceramic wax on and my E34 has Gtechniq EXO and CSL coating. After washing for the Z3 I use some normal sealant and the E34...
