Cheers, 1 of 2 reasons for buying it. A proper Clio Cup rollcage and a shell in white, when i went to see it there was no way i could say no. After crunching the numbers and making the call to Danny it was mine to pick up. My last Clio 172 was at that point where it was time to look at buying a...

Yep, was told this too by a mate of mine who works for Renault. I'm picking up the new sensor from Renault tomorrow and will have that fitted as well as the new throttle cable. I'm gonna buy some carb cleaner for the ICV too.

Thanks for the comments people. I also had to put the adjusters back on the rear springs as it was sitting too low, the nyloc nut also worked loose on the drivers side solid top mount which caused a knocking noise so that was tightened up too. Definitely worth spanner checking everything...

White Trackday 172 Project *Contains Awesome*

Ok, thought i'd do a little update as the Clio has been on the road a month now and covered about 600 miles, 260 of those were done last weekend on the round trip to Cliosort Saturday at Gaydon. Its given me the chance to bed every new component in and see if anything happens that i need to deal...

    Mileage on a 172/182

Bought the blue 172 three years ago on 78k, the lump is now in the white Clio, 106k with new cambelt kit, cup belt, clutch at 90k and still pulls well. Regular oil change using ELF Renault oil and filter.

    Cliosport Saturday - 30th July 2011

Got back home a while back after a 260 mile round trip, a first proper run out for my Clio. Was good to see so many variations of Clio's out there, really well looked after, clean. A brilliant turn out for the club, well organised and in a good location, well done to the organisers :)

The torque line on my Clio dips between 4500 and 5400rpm

    Whats a flat spot?

Can a flat spot show up on a power run print out? A dip in the bhp or torque curve?

    PH2 1.4 MPG?

My missus has a 1.4 16v and regardless of how careful on the loud pedal the best we've seen on the MPG is 38 (motorway) around town, pottering about its low 30s. On the other hand my lightweight Clio 172 is giving me an average 47.5mpg at the moment. The beauty of not much weight, gentle...

Just done the rstuner thing and....

For the time, trouble and costs would it have not been better just to book it in for a remap by someone? Mapped to your engine and particular mods done in 1 go, just thinking the cost of the RS Tuner, generic map then doing it all yourself with the potential for these problems to arise and...

    F4R Cylinder Head Work

Is it worth having the F4R head worked on, i.e port and polished etc? Was wondering if this is the area to focus on (better breathing) Was toying with the idea of buying a 2nd hand cylinder head to be worked on. Apologies if this has been covered, i had a brief look in the search function...

    Removing Air-Con Pulley......my alternative method!!!

I bought the complete setup 2nd hand off a 172 cup in a breakers for £75, keep looking out for them. IIRC the Kangoo 1.9 diesel uses the same alternator, there was 1 on E Bay for £50

    Removing Air-Con Pulley......my alternative method!!!

Its about £90ish for 1 bracket and £30ish for the other, £8 for the aux belt, £120 for an exchange cup alternator and about £20-£30 for bracket bolts. I have all the part numbers to hand for the 'Cup' alternator setup

    ECU Remap

I'm booked in for a power run this Saturday morning purely to see how it lays down the power. If it then requires the map to be tweaked to gain anything I'll be taking it to Tour de Force

Yes it certainly was Paul at RS tunings old shell, i believe Danny bought the car off him. I don't know the goings on in between but this is how i came to find it when i went to view it for the first time. I had to think hard and long about taking this project on as it was quite literally bare...
