Well i have 16" mk2 172 wheels on mine and they are 195/45/16s so lower profile than the 195/50s but the rim is an inch bigger therefore smaller tyrewall.

The 195/50s are a lower profile and they are a little wider so less side wall flex, a little wider track so in theory better grip and they are cheaper in that size so its a bonus.
