A lot of the sumps have a raised part internally where the sump plug thread is, you will never get all the oil out removing the sump plug
Prob get more out of an f4r with the suction pump due to this design (pic nicked from icemans thread)
15 pumps and let it do the magic, take filter off...
Ive used a good quality vac pump on all my cars for oil changes via dipstick hole for last 15 years. No more mess and it gets the lot out, as much as taking the plug out.
Took the sump off a gtt engine that i had changed the oil via dipstick for around 70k and no sludge buildup or nowt.
Leave the engine standard, quick enough to have fun and reliable.
Refresh the suspension if it needs it, get some decent brake pads and fluid in, 15” wheels with sticky rubber and get it used lots. Learn how to use it to its full capabilities on the corners before concentrating on more hp.
If the circlip has popped (sounds likely), fit a Renfort plate and fixed for good. Fit decent high tensile bolts instead of the stainless ones supplied.
I had the dampener on mine, which only made a slight difference, and made the shifter feel heavy, preferred the gearchange without. The vibration on mine was savage initially, rattling all the way through the rev range in 2nd from 3k rpm. After a couple of thousand miles, it seemed to have...
Great updates Mark. It really is in awesome condition for a daily driver, looked perfect when i had a look round it before cs festival.
The gearbox drip tray works great at keeping the oil from dripping all over the drive. They can fall off on track though, as mine went the journey at Croft...
Its been called the Renault rescue centre in the past off my mates due to the amount of broken projects in there at one point haha.
Glad you enjoyed the pax laps mate..the kangoo was pretty epic, and deep down i do regret selling it as it was so much fun, especially revving the knackers off it...
Get it filled with the dye in and find the leaks, and fix. I had mine filled up recently and it fired straight up ice cold, they forgot to put the dye in so need to get it redone, lasted 3 weeks though. Id bet its the condenser leaking, as above replace that if its looking sketchy
Bang the full 182 running gear on, rear beam, front subframe the lot. Keep the dci rack, and one of those boxes for the ecu off ebay to control it.
You can code the esp out with clip if going for a cup setup with no abs.
The custom mandrel for knocking the cam seals home is a good idea. I had to use an old crank pulley to do mine.
Ive had good success with 10 mins of toe out overall up front, turns in good, does not knack the tyres and not too skitty under braking. You can go more aggressive on toe out for...
Yes please mate, be ideal for spares. Do you have the loom for injectors? I need an injector plug as the clip bust on this, its zip tied on at the mo, which seems to be sound lol.
Anyway moving on,
Blue megane has had the timing belt, water pump, aux kit, new fuel pump and 15t fitted. Old cambelt and aux looked mint after 5 years/15k, the crank pulley did not look so good though!!
Mapping booked for next month at Efi, hope the clutch holds out, but should see 300hp...
Not updated for a while, but sadly the Kangoo sold a few weeks ago. Miss it a little, but got the right money for it so could not turn it down.
In summary, an epic experience with it being my first N/A vehicle in ten years, cost a f**king fortune to fix all the faults and actually make it...
Blue dci update.
Resealed the sunroof frame, not seen any water come in but smelt a bit foisty like water had been getting in. Used 3mm glazing tape which i had in stock, done the same on the orange dci years ago and it worked great. Ready for the rainy season lol.
Had a scan with clip as the...
Know where your coming from @Danith, the hawkers out there scrounging around for cheap cats, to sell on are not interested in the cars, just interested in making dollar. It goes against the club etiquette of helping each other out etc in my eyes.
Ive ran the Renault5gtturbo owners page on...
