Nah. You set the distance that the strang is apart equal front to rear mate. You then measure from the centre of each wheel to make sure you've got the same distance all round. You're creating a square box around the car essentially, or in the string case, 2 parallel lines alongside the car.
I was behind you on the way out of Lichfield tonight going through streethay out on to the A38. Had a cs sticker in the back window and a RW Developments sticker on the rear.
Sounded well when you gave it a bootful!
The outer diameter of the 182 cup driveflange is larger than the 54mm items, so that's probably why they don't fit. I'd just get them turned down!
Alternatively I can also recommend Reyland kit. I had one of their bell and rotor kits on my cup, and it was awesome quality.
Yeah but look for history of the ball joints being changed mate. If you went to £7500 you'd get a low miles example though with a decent spec - recaros are a must have imo.
I quite like the ultra red as well mate, but I knew that I wanted an AG when I went on the hunt. Mainly in the hope that it'll be worth something in the future, but also because I looked at them longingly when they were new to buy. Almost put an order in for one!
Not really no, as it's essentially the same box with different ratios. But the parts are all available now to repair them once and for all as Renault have changed the synchros for the problematic gears.
Let's put it this way, the gearbox woes will be at the back of your mind once you drive one...
Cheers mate.
Yeah it's pretty much impossible to capture the true colour mate. Look loads better in the flesh.
Cheers. Yeah still happy with it. Got a few other bits and pieces in the pipeline for it.
The 200's are a nice car mate. Totally different experience compared to the 1*2...
Seeing as we've had some decent weather today, I decided it was time to give the AG some proper attention.
I started off by going over the entire car with a clay bar and found that it's nice and clean tbh. This was the clay bar after doing the bonnet: Not much dirt at all!
I then set about...
Schaublin made the original bearings iirc. I got aurora replacements with a teflon liner for about £35 a bearing. Any decent bearing shop will be able to supply them. SS16 is the original part number that they can cross reference @Michaelfoz
Ok so to answer your questions mate!
1) yeah they have a dephaser on them still but it's a redesigned unit and a lot more reliable. I only know of a few that have gone faulty as well.
2) the whining noise could be the breather one way valve at the throttle body. There's a few that I've seen...
@BIGASH owns a pukka x85 cup racer and apart from a few gearbox repairs it's been relatively trouble free. Obviously you're going to go through consumables, but I know that the car is driven hard (and properly) every time it goes out.
