Im not sure about pattern parts but I know Renault supply it as a shaft and CV joints.

Sounds like CV joints. Not cheap to replace if your using genuine parts as they come complete with a new driveshaft etc iirc.

cars/electrics ca do silly things! Similar happened to me when i had my first car, nothing inside would work stereo/clock/light etc until you revved the car. I changed the alternator and it turned out to be a fuse. Learn from your mistakes eh!

Yeah RS renaultsport. There is a lad selling a full phase2 172 interior for £300. Keep you eyes out for stuff in the parts for sale section, seen a full set of RS seats go for 180. Good place to start your modding, make inside a nicer place to be!
