Mine drops off the network, but if you go into settings > carrier, push it to pick up the signal again. :) Don't have the text issues.

Yeah, depends if you lock the Touch or not as, IIRC, it stays on when it's plugged in. Or mine used to with the iTrip at least.

Yeah, looks about right. You can use it without the charger too, IIRC.

Usually in the back of the player, so you'll need to take the front off the CD player. Just google iPod aux cable or similar - it should hook you up with the details. Most people put them through their glove box, etc.

My iTrip was hit and miss in my old clio, and in the new on too. It's pretty s**t TBH. I'd just get a one which plugs in the aux.

Bulls**t. My car will be two years in October and they replaced mine under warranty. Ring RUK or try another dealer fella. A car is covered, fully, for three years. A warranty extends even past this when you think about the sort of quality you'd expect... E.g You don't expect a fridge to stop...
