Think they meant that would allow the engine to be tuned to 200 bhp without the need for turbo or throttle bodies.
Dont think the actual manifold will make a huge difference, once you put cams and a modified head and sort the fueling out it may be a big difference though!
Simular subject - oil pressure.
When I start up it seems fine, slowly moves up to nearly three bar, it goes up to three above 4k rpms. But as the engine gets warmer it seems to sit right at the bottom at idle and rarely goes above two bar on full poke?
Temps fine, never goes above 100.
Example is that Mk2 orangey coloured one, totally standard body, still has black bumpers and hub caps.
Inside is stripped with one seat, two bottles of NOS and theres a 172 engine hiding in there. With NOS its over 270 bhp.
Ultimate traffic light weapon.
Dunno what it drives, handles or...
It makes a difference but heard theyre not as strait forward as theres sensors making life difficult.
My valver roars now, it pops and sometimes even spits the odd flame.
I only have IK, de-cat and back box!
21 makes a difference, the thing that really makes a difference is NCB though.
My mates 21, got a 2 year old Golf GTi Turbo and pays £900 fully comp for the insurance.
4 years protected no claims will do wonders for that!
I how ever am 22 have 1 years no claims and an fault against me and...
The reason for a dump valve is that the turbos still spining after you take your foot off and its trying to force air in to the boost pipe when the throttle is closed. So the valve opens and releases it. (Or waste gate)
On a N/A car when you take your foot off the go pedal then theres no air...
Youll get used to the power of a 16v after a few months, then youll be thinking of ways to make it faster, but youll be stuck.
Only ways to get noticable differences in power cost so much.
I had an RT for 3 1/2 years before I got my valver, Ive had that for just over a year now and am so...
Thats fair enough, as much as I like Williamss its not the car for me, I think theyre best left pretty standard and I cant do that!!
Could put a 2 litre willy lump in mine but again thats just gonna be another dead end once its in.
Theres something you can get to deal with the starting...
As Daz says if it was a standard engine then it would be slower but its quite easy to get to 160 - 170bhp on a GTT engine.
Would cost over £2k probably to get a true 170bhp out of the 16v engine.
The 16vs main advantage over the GTT is top end speed.
Turbos are just easier to tune.
Bored with the Valver, have to wait for 5k rpm for anything to happen.
They cost too much to work on and tune as well, could get a GTT lump fitted and tuned to more than a tuned valver for less cash!
Youd be suprised at how many people are going down the same route as well, Steves was a 16v...
Just to say Steve (Diamond Geezer) took me for a little spin down Southend Seafront and his cars the NUTS!
Got the full package of looks, speed and a sound system to die for!
Im def going ahead with a conversion when I find a donor car and suitable funds. Bit annoyed that the donor car I had...
They look so much more subtle and classy in black.
The silver ones look mailto:w@nk">w@nk.
Wouldnt mind seeing what they look like on a darker coloured 16v
Dave (CorsaD) is having a hell of alot of work done, the engines there being built at the moment.
What they suggest is letting them have the donor car first, they can then strip it all down and do what ever work needs to be done to the engine. Then they have your Clio for about 3 weeks for the...
Go see the lads at Torsion Tuning mate, they are excellent and willing to do anything to get your business. They even offered to come and check out a possible donor car for me and its about a 70 mile round - trip!
You can have a basic conversion and basic re-build and it doesnt have to cost...
Good job Im not looking for that much!
Just want a sound engine with enough oomph to make me forget my 16v engine!
Went to Torsion Tuning last night and paved the way, just need to convince my sponser (dads wallet) to help with the financing!
So whats the premium hike for such a big mod?
Im in two minds to mention it if and when I get it done, I know if I modded my own engine I wouldnt say a word but its a bit more apparent if you have a GTT in place of a n/a engine!
Was yours an RT to start with - would have thought the premium...
What if your covered in all sorts of oil, petrol, dirt, paint or anything you may get caked in at work or play?
Might be gay but stops your nice new interior getting spoiled.
Yeah I know what you mean brun, I have a plan to get some more funds for that as well.
Interest free loan from my old man could be on the cards.
Standard re-builds about a grand isnt it? or not alot more.
Saw a GTT a few times with side exit exhaust and it was making a huge popping noise, prob louder than a gun and was shooting flames out. My valver pops and sometimes flames but this thing was imense. Some one said something about anti-lag but would you need it on a small turbo ?
Any one know...
Monaco is the nicer colour!
I believe any earlier electrical bugs that the Clio suffered had been ironed out as well by the Williams 3.
No one mentioned that the Willy 1 is a phase 1 the 2 and 3 were phase 2s!
Different bump strips, grills, wing mirrors, rear lights and boot strip, think...
I know what you mean about turning the boost up with out the proper precautions and blowing it sky high.
Just the bit on K-Tec said they re-jet the carb, strap the intercooler and various other bits to keep it all in check.
They say you can safely turn it up to run between 160 and 170 bhp on...
Im pretty much sold on this even though Im yet to go out in one.
Spoken to Diamond Geezer and may meet him on Saturday for a spin.
It just seems SO easy to get power out of a GTT engine - and torque levels that the 16v cant match.
In car boost looks like a spuerb value for money mod!
Have MK2s got the spare wheel underneith the car like the MK1s?
If so thats why you will struggle with that tailpipe design.
I wanted twin pipes on mine but the wheel stops it.
