Think you mean image retention tbh;), it's near impossible to burn a modern plasma these days. I have to say the 590 suffers from very little retention and it goes very quickly when it does. Here are to favorable reviews for the 590...

LG 50pk590 plasma is the best you can get. I just spent ages looking and got that and its stunning to watch. Full 1080p and THX certified and looks nice... There are 3 huge threads about it on avforum under the LG section. I ended up getting mine for £605 after discounts.

No but it can't hurt and its free... Plus it does data backup and you can track the phone on maps should you loose it. It will also let you set an alarm off to help you find it or just wipe it out remotely if you still can't find it. Whats not to like about it:).
