when my exhaust was welded at the rolling road the battery was disconected so it could be welded, this reset the ecu but also the radio, was 2 days later i found the stupid book with the code in it

does anyone own a detector or can recomend one, so far im looking at a bell 550 and a snooper S5, I like the valantine one but its very expensive. I am worried about how efective they are through the small panel on the 172 screen. will this affect the angle it can work at and the signal...
