I just thought I should clarify something though:
say you had a mk1 (or any car without the uch to send the imobiliser signal). If you were to just buy a 100% stock 172 ecu, you wouldn't be able to connect RSTuner and 'flash' it to virginise it because the imobiliser would...

have finally ditched the mk1 temperature sender. I'm now using the mk2 sensor for the dash gauge and the ecu now controls the light.
I've also wired the mk2 'malfunction indicator lamp' up to the mk1 dash... hope it never comes on, but nice to have anyway!

if youre keeping the Williams front track, then keep the williams JC5 gearbox and driveshafts
bolt them to the 172 lump with a 172 flywheel/clutch (+soft clutch conversion)/starter motor
I'm not sure of the actual spec of Jay's F7R, but I know he's had work done (and his car is stripped more than mine)
