Yeah Pete was going very well indeed. He did have about 50bhp on our car too, which certainly helps, but he's a good driver for sure.
I think the compact dimension of the Clio really go in its favour. It's a very small car for the class, so nice and light too. Just a shame that the gearboxes...
Ah, you should have come and said hello. I was the one with the beard lol
Yeah looks like you were going really well. Mat isn't super confident in the wet and hasn't really driven the car since last year, so probably not at his best. I think the width of the car can be a bit of a hindrance at...
Well done, sounds like you had fun. What pump are you running?
My advice would be to ditch the Sytec stuff, it's garbage. My friend was running a Sytec filter and pump on his Escort and it caused us endless problems. Fitted a Bosch filter and 044 pump and it's never given a hint of bother.
Sorry that things didn't work out for you Nath, and that I didn't get to come and say hello. Didn't even get to see you out on the stages, as we suffered a few silly little problems throughout the day. Sounds like you were going really well though!
Yeah it does seem to go well really. Last year was a shame. If it hadn't been for a bit of miscommunication and a stage maximum, we probably wouldn't have been far off a class podium. It seems to be getting fairly reliable now so here's hoping.
Weight is the big one. The 1600 stuff can go...
Yeah will try and pop over. Not sure what time I will get there on Friday. Might be a bit tight to make the first car as leaving Essex at lunchtime.
It's about 220bhp. Nothing too wild, but it's a gravel engine, so probably not running the wildest cams. Still seems to go fairly well though...
Got 36mpg over the last couple of hundred miles in my mate's 197. Much of that was A-roads and duel carriageways, but a few short, stop-start journeys too. Seems quite reasonable for me for what it is. Yes it's worse than a 1*2, but it makes up for it in many other ways in my view.
I didn't even realise there was a rule on catch tank sizes. Doubt mine is big enough. Might have to buy a bigger one. Shame, I like my £13 Chinese one lol.
Can't remember the exact wording but, if the car was conceived before 2005, the business about pit props no longer applies, which makes life a bit easier!
My mate has been talking about removing the stickers from his car for ages, but he's lazy and has never got round to it. As a thank you for lending me the car, I said I'd give it a go. The weather was pap this afternoon so I put the car in the garage and cracked out the hairdryer.
From this...
