Well thanks for the responses folks, looks like there is a lot to consider:S . My AA man highly recommends this guy so will have a chat with him.
If say he guaranteed his work for a year would that would be enough if he did it wrong?
Also if anyone does think of any little jobs to do whilst...
Thanks:D will print that out and show him.
When reading around on here I got the impression you might as well change it whilst your there for the price?
My neighbour is an AA man and recommended a cambelt specialist he knows just down the road in Milnsbrige.
As I know the AA man he will do me all the parts at cost and got quoted around £300-320 or something about 6 months ago (without the water pump though).
He's also the type (so AA man says)...
Right I'll be booking my car in for a cambelt in the next week or two.
So far I'm thinking I will need the cambelt kit, aux belt and water pump changing.
Is there anything else I might as well get done at the same time for little extra labour? Engine mounts, gearbox oil..........
Also is...
I have just found a piece of sponge (wrapped in black plastic) hanging from the under tray. I'm guessing from reading this it has come from the car and not picked up from the road somehow?
Will it matter if I leave it off or should I get a new one? It also had some very black oil soaked on it...
Why thank you very much bmh:D I have been getting a very small puddle under my pas side rear bench for months and couldn't work out where it was coming from.
I will look into that.
Clutches are heavy and have a high bite point. Are you using a standard exhaust or is it a stainless? I know my standard one fell apart about 2-3 months after I got it. Stainless is your best bet if that's the case.
Could be torque steer if its under acceleration? if not then might be uneven tyre wear or tracking maybe.
Don't think the spluttering is normal, mine doesn't do it.
I know, how stupid of me. I was looking forward to it too because it wasn't to far for me to go. Next time!
Some good pics, the weather was on your side by the looks of things:D
