Hi Fin, it's good. much quieter in the car than before, think the angle away has helped, cos it's seems only a bit quieter outside the car. no droneing whatsoever. Now i can't believe how noisy my throttle bodies are!
Re: cup weight saveing
No not tar stuff as my cup don't have it either. look behind the pedals - remove that soundproofing, ( brown stuff) it's quite heavy. there was similar stuff in the front footwells too
Re: cup weight saveing
yes it's a proper cup. it has less sound proofing. look under your carpets, you will find it. look under your bonnet, the black carpet stuff is also sound proofing. the tar stuff is like dynamat, it stops the panels vibrating and resonating
Re: cup weight saveing
a 172 cup is reportedly 80kgs lighter and 0.4 secs to 60 quicker than a FF
shed weight = faster car
that's why a 500kg kitcar with a 140bhp engine is stupidly quick
Re: cup weight saveing
nick the bathroom scales and find out - but i would say about that
all the soundproofing weighs 20kgs - i know, i took it out weighd it, and threw it away lol
Not according to this:
http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_510.htm
it says about halfway down that a 3 point seatbelt has to be fitted. however i'm no expert, best ask a local mot garage
Re: cup weight saveing
rear wiper mechanism weighs a kilo if your lucky - i was dissapointed with the weight save when i removed mine. would have saved more by not eating them chips last night!
i believe normal seat belts still have to be fitted and working, if originally fitted, for an MOT, even if harnesses are fitted. i know you can just have harnesses for kitcars. harnesses can be fitted to normal seats but tbh is it really worth it unless it sees a lot of track use; you won't be...
Got mine back tonight................
oh poor old Fin had some right fun and games!
Because i wanted max performance (track day car) i wanted a 2.5 inch system with no cat. when fin put the first system together i had 107 dB at 3000 rpm, loud is one way to put it! so Fin changed the rear box...
i don't feel sorry for him that little 1.6 don't hang about! lol
he wasn't holding anyone up as far as i'm aware and when you get to the legal limit, it doesn't matter if you have 40 bhp or 400 ;)
if it's jumping out of gear, the dogbone could be the cause.if it crunches into gear then the syncromesh is toast and you need it rebuilt. release bearings do get noisy when they have no pressure on them, but will usually last as long as the clutch does.
