And another thing. The S1 Rallye gearbox fits the GTi engine and is quite a popular "mod". The ratios are a lot different. It drops the 0-60 time down to about 5 seconds on a standard car if you can change gear quickly enough but your top speed will be limited to about 100. So if he didn't have...
And I have owned both, hence why I'm in agreement with the rest of people who have owned both. :)
To add to what Russ said in the previous post, there definitely is a lot of variation between cars.
Some of the 106 GTi's I test drove before buying mine felt slower than some of the others. I...
Power to weight ratio isn't the be-all and end-all.
The gear ratios and where the engine makes its power need to be factored in too. Plus as standard they have smaller wheels which helps accelleration.
Fact of the matter is this. The Clio is quicker but not by as much as the figures might...
If your car's standard, and he could have been bothered, it would have tore you a new one. There's a couple of stripped 16v S1's round here and a 172 is no match for them.
This is wrong. When are people going to learn that the 106 GTi and Saxo VTS are the SAME CAR! Both have the same 1,587cc 16v 120bhp TU5JP4 engine, same gearbox (except on some very late Saxo's) and same running gear.
Only difference besides some of the body panels, the standard wheels and the...

Re: Why I love a Apple.
They replaced my iPhone USB cable FOC when that developed a split near the end that connects to the phone.
They replaced the DVD-ROM drive in my Mac Mini when it started making a clicking sound - again FOC.
My old boss had the original MBP (i.e; not the unibody one)...
This. I'm on O2 as well.
I'm sure I read somewhere that O2 are now giving their iPhone customers unlimited texts? I only got 600 when I took the contract out. If it's true though, presumably this means you get unlimited MMS' too?
At the minute my car's using about a litre of oil every month.
That said, I do a lot of short journeys because I only live 5 minutes away from work. When the engine's nice and warm I can go for a thrash all afternoon, come back home, let the car cool down and it doesn't seem to have used much...
Not as good as the warning they had ont he back of KP Nuts:
Warning: May contain traces of nuts.

I can't find whether your telephone exchange has been unbundled or not. The only one I can find that's been unbundled by PlusNet is the one in Taunton. That your local Exchange?
Even funnier is that if you read the McAfee license agreement, it explicitly states that they will accept no responsibility, financial or otherwise, for any loss or damage that occurs as a result of using their software.
FLOL. Only just noticed this topic after replying to your training one.
The support guys here have been running around all morning trying to sort this shite out. I think across 3 schools in Westminster, Nottingham and Manchester we've had a total of 380 odd client machines that will no longer...
Are the latest disasters anything to do with DAT 5958 causing a false positive and causing Windows XP machines to reboot / fail to boot by any chance?
They've been running around like headless chickens here all morning because a lot of the schools we support are using McAfee + ePO. I think...
DCN is just short for disconnection.
Basically means your ADSL service keeps losing sync and dropping out.
If the ISP is using DLM (Digital Line Management), a large number of dropouts in a short time frame may cause interleaving to be turned back on automatically, the signal to noise ratio to...
I had this exact same issue when I wanted to buy my 106 GTi. Loads of mint, well kept examples were up for sale, many of them with mods that I wanted to do myself anyway. As soon as I'd got the money ready to go and buy one there weren't any decent ones for sale anywhere.
In the end I waited...
One of my mates has got a 309 Goodwood that he's doing a GTi-6 conversion on. Still got the original, unmarked interior and immaculate bodywork too. It's going to be awesome.
106 GTi's feel very similar to 205 GTi's to drive quickly. The 205's have heavier steering though, obviously
As standard the 1.6's feel a bit slower than a standard 106 GTi and the 1.9's feel slightly quicker. In reality though there's naff all in it. If anything I'd say the 106 is slightly...
When my trip computer worked it'd go to --- at 36 miles too.
Didn't see it very often though. I always like to have at least a quarter of a tank in the car just in case.
Standard driveshafts seem to be doing just fine for me. Been on for 7,000 miles and haven't given up. Admittedly I haven't been out on a proper track day in it yet but it's still given death quite regularly. Plus the car isn't much lower than standard which may help?
I'm sure there's a way of choosing which graphics adapter it defaults to. I haven't had a play with anything running 10.6.2 yet though so can't tell you where to look. I'd have thought it'd be under display properties if anywhere?
I've got them. While I don't know how much difference they make power wise, they do prevent most of the heat soak up to the plenum.
I can rag mine around all afternoon, stop, open the bonnet and rest my hands on the plenum without getting burnt. Quite impressive, especially when the turbo is...
