1080i60 = 1080p30 1080i50 = 1080p25 etc etc

a 1080i signal doesnt need a 1080p panel all lcd and plasma is progressive as default!! the only difference between a tv that has a 1920x1080i panal and a 1080p panal is the support for 1080p 50 and 60 inputs no cropping will happen to an image it will jusr resample it in the tv's scaler...

retention is the problem burn in isnt retention isnt as noticeable as burn and can fade very quickly but its an annoyance

also alot of teh time they arnt actually dead just stuck and sometimes a gental rub will get them going again

yes no speakers at all its a monitor ie designed to display a picture in an airport of the flight times thats it try the pio 436 series question is have you actually had a look at any tv's in the flesh before you discounted an lcd set ??

the tosh 42 and 47" lcd's already have 180 panels i mentioned in another thread about it not really been a hd resolution

i have had issues using a pio 436 xde thats been run in propperly and so have many others tbh its something you would rather not have to worry about

i would get him to try it but this bloke had me round as his printer wouldnt work!!! well it wouldnt if its not plugged in !!!!!!! so i think linux may be stretching him a bit too far

tbh both technologys are shite ask kdf says we need one that combines the best of both but that will not be till sed and some such thing makes it to market imho id by a good set but dont spend alot of money on it as in 2 years you will want rid
