Port 5800 is only needed if you use the web interface instead. To access you PC using the interface use the IP address with the port specified as well, like this http://999.999.999.999:5800/ Obviously replacing the 9s with your public IP address. If you do use that then you will need both 5800...

You will need to forward port 5900 to your computers IP address

As long as you have the port on your firewall open and port forwarding on your router set-up you should be fine, just use your public IP address.
