When i changed the oil a couple of weeks ago, topping it up and checking the dipstick seemed to agree totally with the dashboard display ! I was very impressed at the accuracy at the time ..
BUT on another note, it is not to be trusted as one morning it went into limp-home mode and lit the...
Halfords 50 or 90% brighter ones, about £20 when i replaced them recently ... but they are BOGOF most of the time !!
They are easy enough to replace. Its just a case of unclip wiring, and twist bulb out of socket. I did mine in the dark so it can't be that hard ;-)
Love those car bubble things !! Spotted them on Costco website for first time today .. how on earth do you blow them up ? inbuilt pump !?

Without spending silly money, 25% power gain is going to be near impossible...!?
how about losing 25% of the weight in the car ... back seats, spare wheel etc to start with ..
or go half and half - a de-cat and maybe a remap might get you 10% power for your budget .. lose 15% weight and...
