The CV boots on these Clios are an utter fail of design. How they expect a simple clip to hold it in place and retain the grease in the boot itself, is beyond me. I've had several clips and boots replaced over the years. Just crap. It only takes a few small splatters of CV grease to land on the...

If you're covered through the bank - I'd go with that option. At least you'll have a decent 'backup plan' should anything happen in getting the car to the garage. Bad to hear that about the dephaser. I had mine done just over a week ago, along with it's 2nd cambelt. Mine wasn't making any noise...
