Canon 500D or Nikon D5000 I think are your options if buying new. Or buy used and get better/cheaper I'd go with a 500D, cracking first camera imo.

Yep, but i mean if you pay an extra £100 here for an afs lens, and another £150 there it soon mounts up and you might swell of bought a better body at the start. I don't know if not having an AF motor is beneficial in any way but to me it just seems cheap of them.

If i was local i'd go for the experience, never been to one before :o The police presence should make it alright i reckon.

If you have to make this choice every time you get a lens, and plan on getting a few, have you thought of upgrading the body to an AF one?

its where the uphill of the pavement meets the downhill of the drive. The drive is getting modified in a couple of weeks anyway to accommodate my new works 4X4 so it might be better then. It was the same with my clio too, could reverse on but not drive on, and that wasn't silly low.
