My mark 1 did this twice (both front went recently). Replaced one then the other went. Just replaced the other one last weekend.
Press is needed to do this job however.
Sounds like a right class person. I believe he also owns an Inferno 182 also if its the same person.
Who incedently was racing a motorbike the last week i saw him along the express way after doing a burley at the roundabout by Thorntonhall.
Remember this happened a while ago and it looks like a right mess that car does now.

Well was in the car there and noticed that when i pulled the sunroof blinds over that a clip had snapped. I have no idea where to get another clip/blind from so im a tad stuck.
Im guessing that it is all one assembly (Mark 1 Phase 3, tilt and slide mech).
