Yep that's the one. Good it in with the pliers and screw it in quite a bit, then live the ball up with the cup and screw it out to push it home in the cup. It can be a bit fiddly to get in but it will go, I've done 3 or 4 now.

Get an adjuster off ebay, it's easy enough to swap it with some long nose pliers.

Sounds like what ever controlls the central lockiing (UCH?) is playing up. I think it's more the locking than the door handle as opening it from inside physically unlocks the door rather than the electrics doing it, and then the door opens ok. Could be the signal's not getting to the drivers...

No didn't have plugs done, I don't know what needs to be removed to get the abs pump out though. It's a hefty lump so something had to give way.

No reason why you can't do the fronts straight away and leave the inside until the tyres are on.

Gate isn't locked until 10 so they should do .
