As long as you get a good one that has actually been maintained youll be fine - theyre great cars and are no more costly than most hot hatches. If, like me, you get one which had EVERYTHING waiting to be done get friendly with a bank!

What the 2ltr conversion or the headwork? Headwork: Speak to BenR about gasflowing the head, all the other parts you can buy and get a competant garage to fit. 2ltr Conversion: Again, a competant garage can fit it all but youll need to source the bottom end, have you ECU chipped to 2ltrs etc

I think it depends how far you want to go. The 1.8 is a better base for severe modifying (e.g. throttle bodies/turbo etc) due to the crank being stronger and because it can reliably be pushed harder. If youre not going that route then the 2ltr conversion is better and will work out cheaper for...

Hi, im actually wanting to fit some some dimma rear arches (possibly bumper) to my valver as theyre about the best ive seen. The trouble is i dont think dimma sell the stuff separately unless youre an existing, accident damaged owner so.... ...would anyone who owns one be willing to pose as...

does anyone know where i can get a hold of some aftermarket guages (voltmeter etc) to match the rest of the clocks in my valver (ie black with white needle, illuminating orange)? Thanks.

The best alternative out of the lot will be to fit the 40mm springs with the new shocks from the apex kit. I know i guy who has the -60mm kit on an rsi and he has very little space with his arches and has to take speed bumps at an angle - It does handle very, very well though. Depends what you...

That does look slightly lower than a normal williams but not enough to be down to lowering springs - id say its just the broken springs that have caused that....

Backbox will just give a better sound but not power m8. Induction Kit will decrease performance if its allowed to suck in warm air (i.e is an "open cone" filter style) - if you want to go that route (it does give a nice sound) make sure its got plent of cold air feeds. Hope this helps.

Do you have a power boost valve? Ive had the same probs as you and since removal its far better (although still idles slightly low momentarily after a thrashing)

Ill be keeping the valver shocks on the rear - these were new about 1k ago so it should be ok.....

Well, he sold the car not long after but id imagine its still going. He got 160 and also put silicone hoses in, dump valve, strapped the intercooler so it could handle it more safely. The car had only done about 80k as well which helped.

Williams is about 150bhp as standard. R5 GTTs are 115/120bhp as standard but weigh less. Worth noting that my mate spent about a hundred quid on his (bleed valve etc) and saw 160bhp the same day. Theyre far more tunable and will be faster for cheaper.....but thats true of any turbo i suppose!

Colin, dont know for sure but id lean towards bendix as ive never seen a renault with lucas gear on it. If you had a haynes manual and your wheel off you could work it out as theyll be shaped differently. Could be wrong though....

No they aint faster than RT but are cheap for fun! I had mine lowered, alloys etc and i can honestly say it was the best fun ive had till i got my valver (had an RT, Megane in between)....

I think most people on here seem to agree that standard for standard the 106 handles better but bear in mind that a comparision will involve at least a 10 year gap so on a decent valver, the difference might not be as big as everyone claims. On the average, the 106 will be a comparable but safer...

Update! Just been up and collected the shocks/wishbones and have ordered the ARB and stuff ill need to mount it. On the parts description, the ARB bushes have "R19" in them so they must be the same after all. All this stuff is due wednesday so ill just need the driveshafts after that - think...

My first guess would have been Idle Speed Control Valve but as you say it idles fine but just cuts out. Wont be anything serious anyway, just a faulty sensor somewhere....lambda/TPS maybe? You dont have a power boost valve on it do you? Could be that....
