Damn - Itll be a bit of a pain if it does!
I think my mate had his williams down -40mm so am going to ask him to double check. It shouldnt be too bad id have thought with 185s though as there appears to be a few low willys (excuse me!) floating about?
Trying to work out who has their...
Ok, ive got the following parts on the list so far (many thanks to paul mitchell for his help);
driveshafts, wishbones and shocks (all from a williams)
Should be fairly sweet and I reckon i should be able to use my lowered springs to save cash as they appear to be the same part number as for...
Cheers! Bit confused though - i spotted a topic where someone said (may have been BenR) that the minimum you could get away with would be R19 16V wishbones and driveshafts and willaims shocks and springs.
If that was all then itd be fairly cheap.....dunno!
:confused:
I know this has come up in the past, but im struggling to find the definitive answer to the parts i actually need!
Anyway, to go from 1.8 16v to Williams Front track what do i need and what can i keep from my existing setup? Also, whats it likely to cost?
Thanks!
LMAO! I wouldnt put too much faith in what they say - i coughed up for a new rack on their say so but it was actually the column (which i had suspected it was most likely to be going by what people say on here said beforehand). Just my experience but itll always depend on the garage and if they...
Forced to agree with the folks above - i wouldnt put 17s on but its your choice! If you do, id try to keep a "williams style" look about it. Prima do very similar 3 piece alloys up to 16" or 1 piece 15s,16s and 17s in gold;

Just to give you an update as I removed my PBV at and replaced the std fuel regulator today;
Basically its miles better - my idling problems have gone and it appears to be running stupid quick compared to what it was - very happy! Obviously, im not going to claim that PBVs are rubbish as im...
Cheers BenR - will try and get hold of a guage for the w/e. Erm...do you think thered be any probs/noticeable performance drop removing it considering my current setup?
Erm...slightly off topic but what tyres (manufacturer/model) were phase 1 valvers suppossed to run as standard? Im convinced my 195/50 dont have as much "feel" sod be interested to switch back....
Cheers colin - just remembered about Ricky Gauld a few hours ago!
Anyways, the chip is basically mapped to my mods - its a HP one for their stage 2 conversion (basically everything i have on it minus the gasflowed head) so should be near spot on with my current setup. Trouble is, their stage 2...
Id be tempted to say theyd look better cos the flatter style of them will make the wheel look massive!
Cant you keep the phase 2 and fork out for a cheap set of R19 wheels as well? There are going to refurbed in white anyway so kerbing etc shouldnt matter....
Different design to turbines m8 - more "dished" and flat looking. TBH, id only swap your phase 2 wheels if you dont have the centre caps for em or if youre gonna paint the 19 wheels white or somin....
Got a quote for a RR session - 100quid! TBH i dont fancy coughing that up if i can remove it with no negative effects... :oops:
I was kinda under the impression that with cams you could get away with either the chip or a PBV (i.e dont strictly need both) but unsure. Surely if it aint set up...
Hi there,
ive got a PBV on my 1.8 16v and im thinking of removing it - its never been set up properly and im worried it could be causing damage or problems (mainly idling)...
the question is, I have cams and a HP Stg 2 chip so is it really needed?
Also, do you think itd make much...
^^what Tom_16v said!
Even wilth uprated shocks, i think most people acknowledge about a 35/40mm drop to be the best for handling as any lower would throw camber out etc. Also think about speed-bumps - the 16v is pretty low anyway aint it? ;)
K-Tec use piper cams - certainly for valvers/willys but i dont know about other models. Off the top of my head their stage 1 cams are piper 270s and stage 2 are piper 285s.
Theres not too much difference between manufacturers TBH - just small differences in profiles. Id say if youre getting...
Sorry - meant the temp sensor on the passenger mirror! :oops:
As for the idling prob, the car has had new lambda, new ISCV, new coolant sensors etc so it must be the speedo cable. It does sometimes do as you say (idle at 1500 after going above 4500) though but im still unsure. maybe the TPS...
Hi, my valver appears to idle really badly and, after reading some previous posts, people say it can be down to the speedo cable (ive got a new ISCV etc and the box i had last week has agrevated the situation) BUT;
...this will seem dumb but by "speed" do you mean the speedometer or the rev...
Heh - on the twentieth ill be at the 1 year mark with my valver which is the longest ive ever owned a car - all the others have either been crashed or too uneconomical to repair!
TBH i cannot see me ever selling it - its one of the few cars ive ever been in where i can honestly say i love...
