    PDF File?

Trouble is with that, is that you give them an inch and they will take a bloody mile! ;) Like at our place. Importing customer pricing can be done by most sales staff - but as IT can do 'it quicker' (read that as : I can't be arsed, let them do it) - it often gets sent to us. If we're not...

    GPU Upgrade

The 5850 will have some decent clout, m8. I've got a 4870 (soon to be 4890) and for the most part, it can handle a lot of bells and whistles being switched on in games. Of course, you'll get the hardware killers - Crysis being one of them - but with higher resolutions, having 1GB of memory...

    GPU Upgrade

Post 9 it is then..... Longy has a 5770 and its fine from what he says. It also supports DX11 - and if your mobo supports Crossfire, you should be able to whack another 5770 in there at some point in the future, for not much money. :) D.

    Matt vs Gloss

Crazy money, ain't it - for a slightly bent strip of plastic! D.

Erm, just a bit? That's Cookie on there, btw.... D.

    Heavy Rain (PS3)

Did you ever complete ^^^ that, m8? Is it worth seeing through to the end? I put an hour or two into it, but other games pulled me away more. Cheers, D.

    Chatsworth Rally 2009 - a few pics

PMSL! Multi-tasking car, eh? ;) 2008 was a bit too mental, heat wise though. I remember going back to the car for a few minutes and it said 33C on the dash - with no breeze whatsoever. But I agree - I'd much more have it dry that soggy wet... D.

    New rimage

Danny-boy's right. I had them on my Punto GT (two sets on the front before my brain kicked into gear and I swapped tyre brands). Even with standardish output - around 130bhp/145lbft - they had the durability of a mashed spud. During commuting, I managed to wear down the fronts of one set in 4...

    Chatsworth Rally 2009 - a few pics

Definitely. Already got me and my m8 a ticket, pre-booked before Christmas. :) Hopefully the weather can land between the past two years. 2008 was baking hot and 2009 was too rainy. Somewhere inbetween, please! :) D.

    The Saga Continues...

That's very true. I remember reading an article in TG magazine on the train down to Plymouth years ago and thinking 'those cars look special'. They definitely have a road presence that the laters cars don't quite manage, imo. D.

    iMac 27" should I or shouldn't I?

They must be on some mega pocket-money around your place. ;) D.

    iMac 27" should I or shouldn't I?

Yep, yep and yep. I can't deny that they are a great device - in particular for what you said above, seb. Funnily enough, Jain mentioned that she's well impressed at the bootup/shutdown times of her Macbook and comments on how long it takes her heap-o-sh1t HP laptop to do the same - lol! D.

    iMac 27" should I or shouldn't I?

Lol! Why not just get a 2nd mortgage for it instead? ;) Dare I say it - but I prefer the older model trackpad with the button across the bottom. Felt easier to use, somehow. I normally use an optical mouse with a laptop anyway. :) D.

    Few pics of the FRS

Filth (in both senses of the word!) I pass one on the business park here every day - looks the absolute mutts nutts. Love 'em. :) D.

We've a Macbook in the house already. That's more than enough, thanks. ;) D.

    iMac 27" should I or shouldn't I?

Great post. :D If you've ditched the PC for playing games, Gareth - then the Mac really is a good candidate. However, you strike me as a component/upgrade/tweak type of person - and the Mac most definitely isn't that sort of machine. What you see is what you get - and the few 'official' Apple...

    Apple HD failure?

Well I've taken the view that the HDD is fecked. Despite both DiskWarrior and the disk repair/verify utilities on the OSX DVD confirming that they've both repaired folder structures, etc - it still doesn't boot. Fired the Mac up into verbose mode with Apple key+V and after a while, it starts...

    Exchange 2007, Redundant Servers/Load balancing

Cheers for the heads-up on this dk. We're currently running Exchange 2003 but are weighing-up moving to 2010. Certainly some pointers to think about there. D.

    Apple HD failure?

Something new this morning....... woooo! Next attempts to communicate with it include Jedi mind tricks and Vulcan mind melds. Either that, or a lump hammer. ;) D.

    GPU Upgrade

Very true m8. But for the price of a current game, it's an easy install and one that can add some much needed clout to supported games. I wish there was an industry standard on physics effects - that all the manufacturers complied with. D.

    GPU Upgrade

The 4870 cards are really impressive. Mine still performs well, even though its the 512MB version. Just nabbed a 4890 with 1GB off Fleabay though, which I'm hoping will help the higher resolutions a little. Would have liked to have got the XFX XXX version, mind. :) D.

    GPU Upgrade

If you want DX11 support, then the 5700, 5800 or even 5900 series of ATi cards are really the way to go. The 5700's are a great card for the money. Personally, I'd get two if my mobo supported Crossfire. :) As for the Physx support - that's a toughie, m8. I nabbed a 2nd hand Physx PCI card off...

how do i know if i need more ram?

I spot Norton mentioned at the bottom of that list. I would rather spend an evening with Christopher Biggins, jacked on viagra and crack than have that installed on my PC. Try uninstalling that first before you do anything else. D.

    Liquid Yellow Goodness

Liquid always looks immense. But I have to say your previous 182 with the black roof looks brilliant - a perfect contrast against the silver. :) Did you have it like that for long? D.

    Goodbye 200... already

Nice chaps - please keep it on track or else lockage is on the way. ;) OP - nice one - once you've tried a turbo, you'll always want another! D.

    Apple HD failure?

Lol - I just love the feedback you get from Macs! I know discussing the concept that a Mac has 'broken' is as unholy as a bunch of priests discussing their favourite back copies of Pedo-Bear's School-Time Adventures - but come on! Give me a clue?!?! The DiskWarrior DVD is in, and I can...

    Worth the Upgrade?

i5's seem to be a good bang-per-£ CPU. I'd prefer an i7 myself (just to be an awkward git!) but they are definitely a more than capable CPU. Griff's got one in his recent PC system. I'm sure he'd comment on how it fairs if you PM him. :) D.
  29. Darren S

    Worth the Upgrade?

As Gareth says, 32-bit is very long in the tooth now. It's based on technology that started mainstream in 1986 - which might as well be prehistoric in PC terms. 64-bit has been around for quite some time and it's no longer possible (for the most part) to buy a pure 32-bit CPU anymore...
