Thanks ben,
willy shafts on order now. Also been speaking to Paul at Infinicar and he reckons the drivers side willy shaft is shorter than the R19 ones which would sort my problem.
Guess ill know in the next few days but i reckon this one should go as a guide on cliosports if it all works...
Sunwheel? Whats that and is there a part number so i can have a look at it in dialogys?
*edited - i think this is a gearbox part but i got a new box a few months ago?
Just got a phone call from the garage after theyve set up the tracking - its a no-go!
Basically on a road test, they get severe vibrations through the car as the shafts have no lateral movement. Now, i spoke to Paul Mitchell at infinicar a while back (as he had fitted R19 shafts to a clio)...
^Well apparently theyve got everything things sorted and it all bolted together now (phew!). Unfortunately theyve run out of time to set the tracking etc so going to be tomorrow now before i get it now.
Going to be a laugh to get the bill for this one i think... :(
Yup hubs are the same.
Away to phone the garage in a few minute to see how they got on enlarging the holes (been an almost 2 hours since i gave them the go-ahead). They didnt sound too pleased on the phone but what can you do? Just want it back now.....
Yeah i think so. There was no mention of problems with the shorter shaft anyway so can only hope itll be fine. Almost convinced renault has mailto:f@#ked">f@#ked this one up for me as everyone on here said it should fit and going by part numbers it certainly should.
10 years after the car was...
Just been on dialogies to see if theres anything looking dodgy - stub axels match up fine between 16v/willy/r19, wishbones are fine but the only difference i can see is the balljoints; the r19 oneshave a different part number from the clio ones (and their possible replacements). Wouldnt think so...
As you know, im getting the williams front track fitted to my 16v at the moment but the garage has phoned me with a problem;
Basically on the drivers side when they tighten everything up, the lower balljoint cannot be moved out far enough (by about half an inch) to allow it to fit to the hub...
Tempted to fit an induction kit again (miss the noise!) to my 1.8 valver but dont want to loose the power that the standard airbox offers. Is there any induction kit out there that offers the noise without the heat problems normally assosiated with open cones.
Viper etc is out as theyre far...
Update for you all,
dropped the car off yesterday at 8 but got a phonecall at about 12. Basically i told them to get some R19 16v shafts for me (as theyd get the service exchange price with my old ones) but forgot to mention that my valver had ABS. As sods law would have it, they got the...
I had a set of those wheels (since sold to fatherted). Theyre actually prima racing alloys (replicas of the maxi alloys from back in the day) - good wheels but the spokes do stick out rather far which aint good for curbs! However, they are one of the few alloys that dont look out of place on a...
1-2 hours!! I dont know about 172s but with valvers itd be a max of 10 mins to fit one. Kwik-fit will usually do them if you go last thing at night once the supervisor has gone! Usually need to give one of the lads a 5er or so but far cheaper than the price above....
Hi,
how easy is it to remove the inlet manifold on a 16v/williams? Will i get away with removing the front cross member and radiator and undoing the bolts or is there more work involved? Do i need gaskets/torque settings to refit it?
Likewise for the rocker cover - presume thats just a...
Hi m8,
thats my thread and im having the stuff fitted tomorrow - pics to follow! Im actually using all new bits from renault which is costing a bit more but you should be able to get stuff secondhand far more cheaply.
As an edit from my other post, i beleive you can get everything from a...
