But you're worrying about nothing.
For your peace of mind get the coolant/antifreeze flushed and changed. Its for the best anyway with the harsh winter coming up and costs peanuts.
At the risk of repeating myself.... I've said this three times now.
It may have had a previous repair. 5 years ago.
If its got the TINIEST bit of oil in the system, like half a thimble, in all of the 5+ litres of coolant, it will rise to the top.
If the car is not overheating, losing oil...
Why?
There's clearly nothing wrong with it.
If you read (and take in!) my post, the tiniest bit of oil/grease etc will make its way to the top of the expansion bottle.
Even if your coolant system has the tiniest amount of oil in it (from a previous repair?) and there's nothing wrong with the engine, oil will always rise to the top as its less dense than water. Basic physics.
If the car is running fine, not loosing oil or water, then you are worrying about...
Remove the terrible tints, the terrible wheels, refit the front fog lights, take out all the audio crap and you'll sell it for £2500. Very quickly.
Leave all that crap on there, and you'll be lucky to sell it at all.
I just read your advert, got proper excited, (Got a customer after a black 1.2 16v) then I saw the god awful tints, the chavvy wheels, the foglight holes, the no mention of service history or cambelt and clicked off.
I spoke to Oulton Park today and they confirmed this! You know everything uncle tony...
(I'm a bit confused by paddock area and pit area?! I thought they were the same place at Oulton, but then I haven't been there for 6+ years..)
Well when we track our car, we pay for 2 drivers so basically, the car stays out all day.
Never EVER had even a hint of fade.
If you've got warped discs, i'd check for a binding caliper as that's some serious heat! I can understand it on cheapo Euro car parts discs and pads and crap old...
'i've found a cheap one'
'Its cheap for a reason'
'Shall I find another one'
You've answered your own question mate. IT will have oil like sand ridden treacle, the belt(s) are overdue and I'll put money on it that its got ditchfinders on all four corners.
Unless you're turbo'ing/supercharging/ITB'ing it, I wouldn't bother.
But I'm not an expert.
Renault spent millions developing the car to make sure it runs all day in places like Africa Aus, NZ etc so a few track days in blighty won't hurt it at all.
