What has been said above, removed mine in a few mins. You will also need a 22mm socket for the main nut behind the plastic on the boot which holds the motor on to the boot lid (maybe just a phase 1 thing?!) If you just want to fill the hole then a grommet from Halfords is £1.59 for a pack

Would that affect the airbag working in anyway? I still have the airbag and the old dashtop so could get them flocked. I'd rather have a phase 2 dash though.

Yeah that went when the non sport dash top was installed. Hate looking at that blue colour they used for the dash top in phase 1s. Even if you flocked the dash you'd still have the blue airbag there.

Dropped the car off with Mick for belts and a couple of other issues. Engine mounts were supposed to arrive today but haven't. The dogbone I bought from Russ last week also hasn't arrived so hoping they both turn up tomorrow as Friday is the perfect opportunity to fit them. Thoughts on this...

Have a good look around the dash to make sure there's nothing keeping it in place. Wire might be caught somewhere?

Yeah its not cheap but has a lot of functionality and doesn't look too out of place in the E39 dash. I think normal DIN sized stereos can look rubbish in E39s/E46s
