My car was the same when I bought it and a new speedo sensor solved it. I would have a look in that area under the engine first though, see if anything has come loose or unplugged.

Monaco pro's are uncomfortable for long journeys, after an hour I would be numb, 2 hours I would be in pain. I only paid £150 for my pair so if I had £400 I wouldn't buy them.

It will be the speedo sensor which is on the back of the gearbox (well it is on a 172) Not an expensive part if it needs a new one and it just clips in.

You should be fine, just do a spin class or something before you show. TBH I'll probably end up ordering the challenge anyway.

Yeah. My phase 1 was exactly like yours and a new cable sorted it. Its just a suggestion from my experience. I'm no mechanic but think its worth a check.

Its not revving itself though? Its maintaining a high idle. Still check it anyway Jon, look on the plastic spindle the cable joins on to (on the TB) and see if you can move it back so the revs drop to a normal level then you'll know.

Throttle cable. IIRC you can check if its sticking on the TB. I had the same problem on my phase 1 and a new cable isnt expensive
