This is a rather gray area, whether the part failed or not the garage will tell you its wear and tear i say move on but keep your ear to the ground on any other paticullar problematic niggles that they have that they will replace before the warranty is up ie. window regulators lol

Goes without saying that if you do pick one up, we will go on the expectation that its got 55k+? The cambelt is gonna need done at 68-72k-ish Thats an expensive one to get handed but then if you get one for 5.5k your still making some saving on the new price 4-5 years ago!

To be honest mate mileage is pretty irrelevant if the car has been cherished as said above there are plenty of horror stories waiting to happen with the neglected models, i own a phase one 172 and it only has 47k on it with f.s.h and its solid for the age. I managed to get him down to £3800...
