The only reason you lift mid corner is because you don't know the track. If you don't know the track, you shouldn't be going that fast.
The thing is, 99% of cars don't have an oil pressure gague and all we do then is check the oil once a week when we wash the car and if it looks ok we are happy.

If the leads there, just buy a changer plug in an job done.
If the leads not there its a pain in the ass so just buy a new headunit with ipod connections.

As for it not firing, sounds like an imobiliser issue (providing you've checked all the plugs/leads/coilpack etc.)
The imobiliser will allow it to crank but it just won't fire.
