buy a can of brake cleaner from halfords, take the rear drums off, dry paintbrush to de dust then soak everything in brake cleaner, re assemble.

Yep. They looked like brand new headlights after.
Auto Glym polish might not be abraisive enough it the scratches/swirls are quite deep, but tbh, it was no different than using the rotary on the paintwork.
Really annoys me when people buy cars, keep them 3 weeks, realise they can't afford it then sell. Thats the reason M3's/imprezas/evo's etc all have 5 owners by the time they are 3 years old!!
