I'd offer him £4250 and get him to MOT and Cambelt it, that way if it fails the MOT on anything, he will have to get it done. And Being a main Dealer, they will be strict as arseholes on the MOT.

so if the belt was supposed to have been done at AKS, you couldn't phone a dealer in Bristol to find out. You'd need to call the dealer who stamped the book. Pain in the ass tbh.
I personally wouldn't bother persuing it.
It will cost you more in time and effort than it would to pay your mate so fix the problems. Just put it down to experience.
