Change the oil every 3000 miles on my cars, then just stick to the manufacturers recomended service intervals. I have a mate who has NEVER serviced any of his cars. He is 33 and has been driving since 17 and bizzarely enough reckons he has never broken down!!

Tar and glue remover. Don't use white spirit though, it will take the colour out of your dash.
