Sounds daft, but there is a lower rev limiter when the engine oil is cold. Stops you over revving and preserves the engine. Have you ruled that out? I'm not a mechanic by any means, but thought i'd help. Ish. :)

I bought one off Ebay, £49 delivered. I use it every single day and its bloody brilliant. 7 speed settings too, so if your a bit nervous, you can slow it down so you don't do any damage. hold on......

i've had a Golf mk4 Turbo and a 172 (well, loads of 172's! lol) and the Clio is better in every single department. Apart from driving position and Build quality, but that goes without saying. I sold the Golf after 12 weeks as it was just too dull. Looked awesome with the Audi Comp wheels...

tbf, if there is no box under there, there is absolutely no need for a port. There is far too much 'air space' going on to warrant a port.
