Your ride height looks sweet, what suspension are you running? i'd love to drop mine a bit lower but i cover upto 25k a year so need to keep it fairly practical....
But one thing worth noting about the new rims is the offset is better than the renault rims, as they have an ET35 so fill the arches much better without the need for spacers, although may stick 10mm spacers front and back....
I'm leaning towards black again like the old rims for the stealth...
Forgot to say they only cost £90 :) - Oh and old rims are for sale to, need new tyres all round and light refurb but come as a set of 5....pm me if interested.
Right guys opinions needed my 172 has been laid up for a few months now as i've been sidetracked with another project!
But today i gave it a good wash and fitted some rims i picked up yesterday, now although these wheels are tidy i want to get them powdercoated but not sure what colour? black...
Gutted, the reason i'm getting another car is the fact i'll end up killing mine with mileage as i'm doing upto 2000 miles a month :( already upto 112k!
I'm actually looking at getting a new car in a few months but i won't be selling my black phase 1, going to just park it up in the garage as i think they will start creeping up in value soon as they will be quite a rare sought after car in years to come.
I picked my black phase 1 up for £1800, with full mot 104K full service history, with a host of tasteful mods, blueflame exhaust, uprated suspension, phase 2 16" alloys, induction kit, phase 2 rear lights etc....all the stuff i was planning to do!!
Certainly the best £1800 car i've ever owned!
Just for the record, my reverse lights have never worked on my old MGB and it passes mot's no problems as did my old e30 bm that didn't have working reverse lights either. So it's a bit of myth that if its fitted or even there it has to work.....fogs and reverse lights are classed as accessory...
I had a driveshaft and lower ball joint supplied and fitted on my phase 1 172 a few months ago for about £140 all in. (cant find the receipt for a breakdown of the part prices)
Yep i always find this to when looking for cars, when you have the cash the cars are simply not about! I dropped on with my phase 1 but i wasn't particularly looking for one at the time, which is probably why it came up!!
Cheers guys, Tyres it is then - had to nail the brakes last night due to heading straight towards a curb!! as i was going to round an island when it went tail happy - not a sweeping bend or anything and it that case would not of been touching the brakes..:)
Thought it was going to be one of...
I've got a phase1 172 running 60mm drop apex springs & 16" phase 2 rim's and the rear end in slightly damp conditions is constantly stepping out.
Had a bit of spirited drive home just and twice the back end let go, i'm not suffering from understeer at all but the back end will suddenly step...
Hi,
I have just had a quote from a local garage on a cash basis for the following work (on a ph2 172 cup):-
Cam Belt replaced
Tensioners
Water Pump
Aux Belt
Oil Change
Air Filter
New PlugsThey have basically said that they can carry out this work for a price of £500. Just wondered if this is a...
I'm running Apex springs as i love the ride height they give and the ride quality is not to bad at all in my opinion - so cant understand why they get slated so much to be honest.
I have been getting some quotes today on a 172, my situation is 24, 4 years no claims and the cheapest was direct line @ £524 with business use and fully comp.
No its HPI clear, the other p/side quarter has been blown in at somepoint - but the d/side looks factory, the join of the two skins of the quarter etc are spot on.
Just looked again and its virtually directly below the filler flap so its probably just a build up of moisture getting in causing it.
110k! its not major rust by any means, just the start of a more serious rust issue if it's ignored.
I'm used to rust as i've always had older classic cars in the past, MGB's, Mk2 Golfs, BMW e30's etc...
But maybe the clio's are starting to reach that age where they need some rust prevention...
Just giving my '2000 172 Clio a much needed wash this morning and it has started to develop the early signs of rust on the driver side rear arch :dead: two bubbles in the paint (the inner skin is completeley solid so must be rusting in between the inner & outer skin of the rear quarter)
Was a...
