mcafee aint that much better imo :s not imo anyway!
nod32 is by far the best in my experience, never had any trouble with it at all, updates definitions every few hours, and uses hardly any system resources
right, i had a look on google, some people say it could be a usb device, so could try unplugging them all, then plug one in, try shut down, if it works, plug the next one in, then shutdown etc. until you find the one that causes problems..

i had same prob tweakin my comp. I found it was due to me turning on "clear page file on shutdown" (or something simular).
as soon as i turned that off it worked
