Buy a Slim with a couple of games. It's a better size and IMO is quieter running than the full fat model. You cannot install a separate OS onto the Slim, the original model supported Linux.

It's far more quiet than my original launch day console was when the Elite is running from the HDD but if using the DVD drive it's as noisy as ever :D I like the black look better too.

I've bought a 1 month Gold membership on the Live website which is now showing on the website as active but its not updated onto my 360 gamertag on the console. Any ideas or does it simply take a while to update?

Installing disc 1 now, disc 2 already installed :) I forgot how noisy the 360 is :D

Bugger just realised that I need to create a new account to use the 1 month Live Gold trial. Not sure I can be bothered to do that.

I have now unpacked my Super Elite and set it up, typically it needs a update before I can even use it :D I'm sure I recall 360 owners laughing at the PS3 needing to do this from new!! Installing F3 disc 1 now :)

See my edit above, some albums work correctly. I think iTunes album info may provide a fix.

I have to go into Album view rather than Artist to get them to display with the correct running order. Oddly some albums do display in the correct order though using Artist view. I'll have to double check the info for them in iTunes.
