The 50mb connection will definitely be subject to fair usage but they'll not advertise or enforce that for a short while after launch or it will detract from the fanfare they hope for. I don't mind them throttling the connection so long as the trigger level is reasonable.
If you restore it in iTunes they'll never know. I've had to exchange a 2G and 3G handset over the past 14 months and both have been jailbroken at some point or other.
It worried me the first time it happened but unlocking the handset and pausing the music before removing the earphones stopped it from happening again. Glad to have helped.
Keep trying and blow some air into the connector too, it would often take a minute or more when I had to do it.

Same problem I had. Do as I said above and it'll hopefully reset the volume to the correct speaker. You don't need to be playing music when following the instructions to reset the problem, home screen is best.

If you want to unlock your iPhone then you'll have no choice but to jailbreak it. I'm on a official iPhone tariff so found no real benefit in jailbreaking my iPhone.
